Remedial Massage in Alstonville
Remedial Massage is a fantastic starting point for many people when they are feeling that they want to take better care of themselves. It is an opportunity to reset and start again, to begin a new chapter. Not only is it nurturing and assists unwinding tension, it is a place to build deeper awareness of oneself through the body, and to identify and let go of what is causing tension.
At Alstonville Remedial Massage, we deeply understand this process and how it works, and offer a safe and sacred space where not only your muscles are attended to, but you are received as a whole person and held in your process of letting go.
We offer a massage experience where connection underpins the interaction; where you feel seen, heard and held throughout, to find your way towards uncovering what is in the way of feeling healthy, alive and awesome in your body.
At Alstonville Remedial Massage, our approach comes from adoring the beauty and power of massage to deeply support you to feel connected to yourself, whilst at the same time bringing the science of remedial massage in order to rebalance and reintegrate the muscles and tissues to bring a harmonious state of fluidity and flow in your movements. Remedial Massage is often the missing link to resolving pain in the body
What to expect in a remedial massage session?
-
After booking, you will receive a link to an online form. This is a perfect opportunity for you to reflect on your current state of health. Your practitioner will read this before meeting with you to allow for a shorter consultation and more time on the table.
-
Our initial & standard session is 75 minutes rather than one hour. This format allows for a deeper experience of support and relaxation and is characteristic of how we work. It is how we ensure that we have met your needs and you don't feel rushed.
-
We find longer Remedial Massage sessions more effective because we understand that the muscular, fascial and nervous systems take time to restore balance, and each part of the body is affected by other parts. Often when you haven't had a massage in a long time, you may discover soreness and imbalance that you didn't realise was there. The longer 90 minute or 2 hour sessions are for exactly this purpose!
-
Your session will be tailored just for you, to address what is needed at that particular time. This may involve remedial massage technique, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, stretching, mobilisation, connective tissue release and stillness healing.
-
We take you into a receptive state so that you can receive maximum benefit from your remedial massage session. This involves engaging the art of relaxation, through supporting you to feel as comfortable as possible and taking you into deep and mindful breathing. Busyness, anxiety and stress can often lead to very shallow breathing, putting pressure on the muscles in the upper ribs and shoulders and affecting our posture. Connected breathing is a foundation for our style of remedial massage experience.
-
Please allow time after your session to allow the session to integrate. You may like to take a short walk before you drive, or simply go home and lay down on your bed for a rest. The session continues working after it is complete - physically your muscles need to rest after release, and energetically things have been realigned and a rest is the best way to allow your body to reset.
Massage given in focussed presence is a true gifit to receive

Frequently asked questions
Are Health Fund rebates available?
Yes, if you are in a health fund that covers remedial massage, we can process your claim at your appointment with our Hicaps machine. Alternatively, we can issue you with a receipt to claim online with your Health Fund.
Can you book on an Aged Care or NDIS support plan?
Clients are able to arrange this with their care provider if remedial massage is considered a part of their plan. We are happy to invoice them directly for service if we are provided with a contact person and email address for invoicing.
Which session do I book?
If you are unsure, booking in for a remedial massage initial consult is the best place to start. This session is 75minutes in length and is our standard session. We are able to tailor this exactly for you.
If you are pregnant, please book in a pregnancy massage initial consult or subsequent session.
If you have any other special needs, please be sure to make a note on your booking, and outline your needs in your new client form so that we can best prepare for your session.
How do I best prepare for my massage?
Aim to be hydrated and best not to have coffee or stimulants before coming for your massage.
Wear loose and comfortable clothing, with minimal jewellery and make up.
Please turn your phone onto silent so as not to disturb other sessions when you arrive.
What kind of results can I expect?
One massage is a wonderful support for the body, but a session plan is the best way to see results and lasting change. Often in the beginning, 3 sessions 1-2 weeks apart allows the body to rebalance and then continuing on a monthly basis allows us to get you in the best shape to feel freedom in your body and have clarity of mind as a result.
This is because we work with a focus of presence and deep care, and guide you to bring presence to your body. This takes practice, to reconnect the body and mind. However with your willingness, and our specialised techniques, we are able to bring integration to clear the body tissues and reduce pain. With sessions over time, this becomes an easy, natural and joyful experience.
The best results are gained by paying attention to and stopping the areas of the way you are living that are counterintuitive to your wellbeing, as well as introducing or increasing certain activities such as stretching or certain types of exercise; postural awareness or perhaps engaging a counsellor are examples of how you can shift things for lasting change. Together we will assist in identifying these things and support you to easily and simply reduce pain over time and feel fantastic.
We want to see you feeling your best, so allow us to support you.
What is your point of difference?
We care - deeply - about your experience - not only do we want you to love receiving your session, but equally we want you to get the best results. You will experience this from start to finish in contact with us, our stunning purpose-built clinic to hold a quiet and sacred space for your massage, and from our hands you will feel the quality of a deep level of care and absolute presence. Emma has been practicing the art and science of massage and healing touch for 25 years and this level of experience and dedication is profoundly felt.
